Who We Are
Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is YOUR local community nonprofit mental and chemical health resource. As a collaborative organization serving our region, we prioritize care and work to make it accessible to everyone who needs it. We reinvest every dollar we receive into strengthening services, supporting our staff, and meeting the evolving needs of our communities.
We are the most comprehensive resource for mental health treatment, training, education, and information in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties, and a regional pioneer as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). We provide a continuum of care that is clinically grounded and trauma-informed.
Each integrated treatment and recovery plan respects the uniqueness of every individual—whether they are navigating a crisis, managing anxiety, depression, substance use, stress, or everyday challenges. Our goal is to support each person in building the healthiest life possible and strengthening the communities we serve.
What We Do
Treatment, Training, Education, and Information are the four pillars of CMMHC’s work in our communities.
Treatment - As a non-profit community provider of crisis, mental health, and chemical health services, CMMHC offers comprehensive services that are clinically grounded and trauma-informed.
Training - We offer educational programs to create an informed, supportive, and inclusive community that promotes mental and chemical health and addresses the stigma surrounding these topics.
Education - CMMHC provides comprehensive resources for educating the public about mental and chemical health to ensure our community has the resources necessary to live their healthiest lives.
Information - We serve as a mental and chemical health events calendar repository for Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties to contribute to a more informed, empathetic, and supportive society.Â

Our History
CMMHC began in 1959 as a part of a movement to bring mental health services to non-metro regions of the state, where few of these services existed. Our organization was in Minnesota's initial wave of community health centers to meet this vital need.
Services at the original CMMHC location (215 South Third Avenue, St. Cloud) helped individuals in Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns counties in collaboration with St. Cloud Hospital and included emergency service, crisis intervention (including the crisis line), evaluation & diagnosis, and ongoing treatment. CMMHC’s services helped low-income individuals and those unable to access treatment elsewhere.
