Mental Health Professional/Clinical Trainee:  

Central MN Mental Health Center has an opportunity for a Full-Time Mental Health Professional or Clinical Trainee in our Elk River School Linked Mental Health program. The SLMH (School-Linked Mental Health) Therapist will provide mental health services primarily in a school setting to increase accessibility for students who would otherwise be unable to access these services due to insurance, finances, transportation, parental availability or other barriers.  The Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Consistently demonstrate clinical competence and professionalism by effectively providing mental health therapy and diagnostic services to children and their families.
  • Consistently demonstrate professional behaviors that reflect respect for clients and their families, co-workers, the schools, and the organization.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with school sites and community members to expand and maintain school-linked collaborative efforts.
  • Provide medically necessary services in appropriate settings including the family when possible.
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic rapport with parents and care providers to allow for improved client or student functioning.
  • Attend school conferences and school functions to provide psychoeducation and information on school-linked services.
  • Collaborate with care providers, social workers, outside agencies, and school staff.

This position would start on or after August 1st.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy;
  • Licensed Mental Health Professional as defined in 9505.0371 Minnesota Rule, Subp 5A
  • Master’s Level Mental Health Practitioner working as a Clinical Trainee on track for licensure as a Mental Health Professional as defined in 9505.0371 Minnesota Rule, subp 5C ;
  • Experience and training in behavioral learning techniques, rehabilitation theory and practice, and ability to do diagnostic assessments, and individual treatment plans;
  • 2 years’ experience preferred
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills preferred
  • Clear DHS background study and sexual exploitations screening
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Requires use of personal vehicle with current vehicle insurance.

Certified Peer Specialist:  

Central MN Mental Health Center has an opportunity in our Elk River Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program as a Full-Time Certified Peer Specialist.  The Certified Peer Specialist is an active member of an evidence-based clinical team, providing medically-necessary treatment, rehabilitation and support services to identified recipients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). The Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Functions as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills.
  • Works with clients and other treatment staff to develop a treatment/recovery plan based on each client’s identified goals.
  • Assists clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy.
  • Serves as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings.

This position would include Evening, Weekend, Holiday and On-Call hours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Have or had a primary diagnosis of mental illness
  • Be a current or former consumer of mental health services
  • Successful completion of the Department approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam.
  • Clear DHS background study and sexual exploitations screening
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
