As an extension of the mobile crisis response team, trained mental health staff work with law enforcement on emergency calls to provide mental health support to individuals in crisis. They conduct mental health evaluations, problem identification, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. Co-responders de-escalate individuals and resolve the immediate distressing situation using their mental health and trauma training. This intervention includes determining whether an individual can remain in the community or considering whether other alternatives are necessary.
