School Linked Mental Health

CMMHC provides SLMH services to students with mental health concerns through the 12th grade who attend partnering school districts in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright Counties. By providing confidential mental health services directly in schools in the community, clinical therapists can remove obstacles to treatment. SLMH services increase access to children and youth, improving outcomes for those with mental health concerns.

SLMH Therapists offer the following services:

  • Diagnostic Assessments
  • Individual and Family Therapy
  • Group Psychotherapy
  • Psycho-Education Services
  • Mental Health Crisis Intervention Services
  • Safety Risk Assessments and Safety Planning
  • Parent, Teacher, and Administration Consultations
  • Staff Training and Development
  • Attendance at school meetings and
  • Individualized Education Program
    (IEP) or Special Education planning meetings
  • Clinical Care Coordination with teachers, parents, and other providers

Sheri completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, her master’s degree in Child and Family Studies at St. Cloud State University, and her post - graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Cloud State University. She has worked for the Buffalo Hanover Montrose School District since 2001 and as a School Linked Mental Health (SLMH) Therapist since 2009. Sheri is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and has been the Program Manager for our School Linked Mental Health program since 2017.

Brittney completed her Master’s of Social Work (MSW) at St. Cloud State University and is currently working towards licensure as an Independent Clinical Social Worker. Her experience before CMMHC has been working as a school social worker across the St. Cloud area. Brittney carries her passion for working with students of all ages in her current role as a School Linked Mental Health clinical trainee.

Beth completed her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Before joining CMMHC, she worked in higher education for 14 years. Beth interned with our Children’s Therapeutic Services & Support (CT SS) program and is now on the School-Linked Mental Health (SLMH) team as a Clinical Trainee.

Emily received a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and her master’s in social work from Augsburg University. She completed her chemical dependency counseling certificate at St. Cloud State University. Before joining the school-linked mental health team, Emily worked with teens and adults in office and community-based settings with a focus on co-occurring disorders.

Kaitlynn received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota Morris with a major in Human Services and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Dakota. She worked with children of all ages in schools in counseling and behavioral intervention roles before joining CM MHC. Kaitlynn is a School - Linked Mental Health (SLMH) Clinical Trainee for the Sartell School District.

Marah received her master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis with a concentration in Clinical Social Work. She has also completed her licensing to become a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Before joining CMMHC, Marah held internship positions in school - based and community - based mental health organizations, providing group and individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Marah joined CMMHC as a School - Linked Mental Health (SLMH) Clinical Trainee in the Buffalo - Hanover - Montrose School District.

Michelle completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Work at the College of St. Scholastica and her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. She is currently working toward Independent Clinical Social Worker licensure. Before joining CMMHC, Michelle held internships working with victims of sex trafficking, assessing individuals at a mental health agency, and facilitating (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) DBT skills groups and individual therapy. Michelle joined CMMHC as a School Linked Mental Health (SLMH) Clinical Trainee.

Mikayla’s master of science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is from Marquette University. Before working at CMMHC, she was a Clinical Intern at Marquette University’s Educational Opportunity Program and a College Success Coach for College Possible at St. Cloud State University. Mikayla joined CMMHC as a School - Linked Mental Health Therapist at Big Lake High School.

Sarah received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a master’s degree from Capella University in Mental Health Counseling. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and is an instructor of and trained in de¬-escalation and safety techniques through “Handle With Care.” Before joining the CMMHC team, Sarah worked with children in intensive mental health day treatment.
